Film Fund Talk

The Film Fund Talk will introduce leading film funds to producers from all over the world. Panelists who are key decision makers in major film funds will each present the method and range of support offered by the funds, while covering the budget distributed per project. The Film Fund Talk aims to provide practical information to producers who are in need of financing and support for their productions.

FUNDING PROGRAMS

Aide aux cinémas du monde / CNC

The purpose of Aide aux cinémas du monde is to create possibilities of collaboration between foreign filmmakers worldwide and professionals in the French industry, and to facilitate and encourage such associations, in order to coproduce works that promote cultural diversity, and through this, France’s cultural reach and the revival of the country’s artistic creation.

Asian Cinema Fund / BUSAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Launched in 2007, the Asian Cinema Fund (ACF) aims to help creative, talented Asian filmmakers realize their artistic vision. Through its three categories – Script Development Fund, Post-Production Fund and AND (Asian Network of Documentary) Fund, ACF has supported a total of 331 films including 140 feature films and 191 documentaries. In 2017, ACF has newly launched Production Support Fund for Korean feature film projects.

Doha Film Institute

The goals of the Doha Film Institute Grants Programme are to identify new talent, seek out new cinematic voices and discover universally resonant stories. The Programme provides creative and financial assistance for short and feature-length projects, subject to eligibility criteria, by Qatari and international first- and second-time directors, as well as established MENA directors.

Hubert Bals Fund / INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ROTTERDAM

The Hubert Bals Fund (HBF) of International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) provides financial support to remarkable feature films by innovative and talented filmmakers from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe. HBF offers several funding schemes. Filmmakers can apply for support of the development of their fiction feature film projects. With the support of the Creative Europe MEDIA programme of the European Union, production and distribution support are offered to European partners.

Purin Pictures

Purin Pictures is a film fund that supports independent cinema in Southeast Asia. Started in 2017 under the Purin Foundation, our activities cover film production, distribution, and education. We look for artists and organizations that are doing unique and essential work in a region that lacks adequate governmental support. Managed by co-directors Anocha Suwichakornpong and Aditya Assarat, our current slate includes Marlina The Murderer in Four Acts(2017) by Mouly Surya, Die Tomorrow(2017) by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit, and the upcoming Manta Ray by Putthipong Aroonpheng and Rahula by Puangsoi Aksornsawang.

Sørfond

Sørfond supports co-productions between filmmakers in developing countries on the DAC-list and Norway. Since the start in 2012, Sørfond has supported 46 film projects – both fiction and documentary. The overall objective of Sørfond is to strengthen film production in developing countries. A Norwegian minority producer is required to apply.

World Cinema Fund / BERLIN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

The Berlinale-World Cinema Fund (WCF) concentrates on backing the production and distribution of films from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, Central and Southeast Asia, as well as Bangladesh, Mongolia, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The goal is to promote high-quality filmmaking in regions with a weak infrastructure for film, while fostering cultural diversity in German cinemas as well as supporting collaboration between German producers and partners in WCF regions and countries. The WCF provides support in the fields of production and distribution and has two special programs attached: WCF Europe and WCF Africa
